On Sunday, September 20, 2009, we
celebrated Catechetical Sunday during Mass.
All catechists were recognized, as well as the
children who are participating in the program
this year. The first classes of this year were
held after Mass. We’ve been working closely
with the diocese and Sadlier publishing, and
are excited about the new curriculum that we
are launching using the “We
Believe!” materials.
Family/Youth Night
Family Youth Night continues to be a
popular event as youth and
parishoners gather to share their faith
in a casual, fun environment.
January’s theme was REJOICE (see
video to right), and we explored ways
that we rejoice in the Lord and ways to
share that joy with others. The next
FYN will be held on February 14 at 5
pm. The theme will be,LOVE. Please
contact Leslie Krom or Andrea Moore
for more information.
Mission Statement
We, the parishioners of the Church of the Visitation, are a community of persons
committed to growing in the Lord Jesus in continuity with our Catholic heritage.
We rejoice in the fact that we are challenged to create a Catholic Christian
community where previously there had been none.
We see ourselves as called to be a worshipping, serving and maturing family of
God’s people, sharing the Father’s gifts. To accomplish this, we will work with all
people of good will, especially other church bodies, to further God’s Kingdom.
We call upon all that would journey with us to be personally committed to an
ever-deepening life of prayer, study and Christian action. Through this lifestyle,
we will be molded by God’s Spirit to witness and proclaim the Good News of God’s
love for us in Jesus Christ.

Sunday Readings
The first reading is taken from the Book of Wisdom 2:12, 17-20. Against the background of
Egyptian worship of animals and mockery of Jewish trust in God, the author devotes much
of chapters 1 - 5 to the ineffectiveness of such mockery when God has promised immortality
to those who remain faithful.
The second reading is from the Letter of St. James 3:16, 4:3. "Where do the wars and
where do the conflicts among you come from? Is it not from your passions that make war
within your members? You covet but do not possess. You kill and envy but you cannot
obtain; you fight and wage war. You do not possess because you do not ask." In this reading
St. James tells us to recognize the source of our disagreements.
The Gospel is from St. Mark 9:30-37.
